What Type of Injuries Can Occur in a Grocery Store?
Most often, injuries occur from wet substances on the floors. The substances can have several sources, including: leaking cooling systems, spills and drips from merchandise and other customers, wet floors from inclement weather, and wet floors from cleaning or mopping floors.
Another type of common injury includes improperly stacked merchandise, which can fall and cause tripping hazards or overhead injuries. Improperly stored or broken shopping carts can also be a source of injury, as well as rugs that are not flush with the floor.

How Do I Prevent Injuries in a Grocery Store?
Be aware of your surroundings. If there is snow and ice outside, wipe your feet on a rug when you enter the store. Be careful when approaching areas with “caution wet surface” signs. If you need merchandise that is placed above your head, ask an employee for help. If you choose a shopping cart that is not functioning properly, replace it with a working cart.
