Gordon Hadfield Partner

Gordon Hadfield is an experienced and strategic trial lawyer. Gordon takes pride in personally serving his clients and meeting with them face to face to understand their goals and expectations. This allows him to craft a client-centered strategy that serves each client’s specific goals. When his clients are forced to file suit to recover what is owed, he is capable and professional in arguing their case. He genuinely enjoys suing insurance companies, and he has recovered millions of dollars for his clients when insurers delay or deny payment on valid insurance claims.

Gordon’s experience is deep. He has successfully represented his clients in District Courts across the state of Colorado, and in Federal District Courts in Colorado, Illinois, and Florida. He also has extensive appellate experience, having argued numerous cases before the Colorado Court of Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, D.C.

Prior to practicing in Fort Collins, Gordon worked for a large, AmLaw 100 firm in Denver, Colorado, where he was a member of the business litigation group. While there, he litigated cases involving breach of contract, trade secret infringement, class action defense, and enforcement of covenants not to compete. Although the work was exciting, representing large financial institutions and insurance companies did not align with his ethics.
Gordon relocated his practice to Fort Collins in 2012. Since then, he has litigated cases related to personal injury, insurance bad faith, and business disputes. Gordon loves representing the underdog against the same large corporations and insurance companies that he previously represented. He knows that each client’s case is of the utmost importance to them, and he seeks to guide them through this stressful time and help them achieve the results they deserve. He feels very lucky to be a part of the strong team of lawyers and paralegals at Hadfield Stieben & Doutt, LLC.

Gordon is a proud member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association. He graduated second in his class from the University of Colorado School of Law, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and was a member of the University of Colorado Law Review. Prior to attending law school, he received a Ph.D. in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo and taught at several colleges and universities, including Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

Personal

Gordon lives on several acres just outside of Fort Collins with his wife and their two daughters. His wife is a poet and English Professor at Colorado State University, where she has taught since 2005.

On weekends, he can usually be found cheering for his youngest daughter who plays competitive soccer with Arsenal Colorado. He enjoys playing guitar, bass, and ukulele alongside his eldest daughter, who has a passion for music, art, and animals. When work allows, they enjoy traveling abroad together as a family. Recent trips include visiting relatives in France and sightseeing in Colombia. Before having kids, Gordon and his wife took trips spanning several months to South America, Southeast Asia, Europe and North Africa.

Gordon has had a lifelong obsession with motorcycles. He bought his first motorcycle when he was just 16 after saving up money he made washing dishes. For longer trips, he now rides a Harley Davidson Electra Glide and he keeps his Honda XR650l for hitting Colorado’s jeep trails and forest roads.
